In the past year, there have been more than 5,000 games that have been launched on the platform.
But none of them has attracted as much attention as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The game has been downloaded more than one billion times.
It’s been the number one game on the iOS App Store in a month, and it’s set to overtake Grand Theft Auto V in a few weeks.
Its creator, Nintendo, is already expecting to make $100 million (£65 million) from the game in 2019, according to The Wall Street Journal.
“I’m pretty excited,” Mr. Takahashi told The Wall, speaking from his home in Tokyo.
“The idea of creating a new franchise with a unique style and a unique brand that resonates with gamers across the globe has never been more exciting.

Last year, Japanese game developer Eiken announced that it was acquiring mobile game studio Gaijin Entertainment for $1.2 billion (£834 million) in cash and shares, after it sold out of its initial funding round of $700 million.
The company plans to use the funds to invest in other areas of its business, including mobile and game publishing.
And in a similar vein, Microsoft has been investing heavily in mobile game development in Japan, including creating a Japanese branch of its Xbox division.
Mr. Sakurai has said that Nintendo will be investing heavily into the mobile game space, as well, and that he’s optimistic about the growth of the gaming industry in Japan.
“We’ve seen that the smartphone market is huge,” Mr.-Sakurai told a Japanese newspaper.
“But in Japan the smartphone business is still very small.
And mobile games have become a very big part of the business, even if it is a small part.”
A lot of people, including Nintendo, want to see the game become the next big thing in the mobile world.
And that’s the problem for developers: they have to do the same thing on the PC, the iPad, the iPhone, the Android and the web.
There are so many platforms, so many game engines, so much more to learn and create.
And for a mobile game to become a hit, it’s going to need a lot of players.
“That’s why I think we have to start developing for a different kind of platform,” Mr-Sakaru said.
“You can’t just rely on one platform.
You have to think about different games.”
To help shape the future, he says that Nintendo needs to be more flexible in how it develops games, in order to get developers excited about playing it on a new platform.
Nintendo is also investing heavily to promote the game’s Japanese release.
“As a Japanese company, we want to promote The Legend, but it is also a platform where you can also play it on your mobile devices,” Mr Sakurai said.
Nintendo plans to release a mobile version of The Legend in 2019.
“With the Nintendo Switch, we are able to offer players new experiences on the mobile device that they can enjoy with the games on the Switch,” Mr Takaharu said at the launch event.
“So I want to make sure that we do not just focus on the Nintendo platform, we’re also focused on the new mobile platform.”
Nintendo will make a public announcement later this month on the next version of the mobile platform, the NX.
Mr-Satoshi also talked about the upcoming mobile game release of The Adventure Game, a collaboration between Nintendo and Namco Bandai Games.
“If we’re going to get to the next generation of mobile games, we have two big things to achieve,” Mr Nakamura said.
It would be nice to see more companies that can work with the technology, which he said has never before been the case.
